War-time postcard depicting glamorous palace of Izrael Poznański - a textile magnate from Polish city of Łódź. Ironically he was a Jewish entrepreneur. The construction was finished in 1903. Since 1927 it was headquarters of local government and during the war, of local Nazi authorities. 
The stamp on the reverse depicts Karl Litzmann - a German WW1 general and an early NSDAP member after whom the city was named on 11 April 1940. The stamp is canceled with an appropriate rubber stamp from June 20, 1940.
